Sketching flexible yet smooth forms was important. A visible power button and distinctive shape was initially very crucial. Later, when developing the final form, the ability to feed laces through the device was the most important detail.

When Interviewing college athletes, I received a lot of different feedback about equipment and resources available. These differences were mainly due to a difference in funding / scholarships - but they impacted them in a big way.
When Interviewing college athletes, I received a lot of different feedback about equipment and resources available. These differences were mainly due to a difference in funding / scholarships - but they impacted them in a big way.
As a case study, I documented the user journey of different college football athletes. This helped me identify their main pain points, but it also led me to find discrepancies in how they function. Below is a documented journey map of their average day, but there was still much for me to learn about these athletes following my initial interview process.

Wearable tracking is everything in sports metric tracking, and this was an area I saw very large discrepancies in. Youth athletes and lower level college athletes don't have any GPS tracking capabilities, yet private high schools and large college programs spend millions on it a year.
The issue with these the devices is the competition to be the most cutting edge tracker. Real athletes don't need every new piece of tech / trackable metric — They need simple GPS data in an affordable package. The question is, how can an athlete or program improve the way they operate all together without breaking the bank? Below I prototyped some fluid solutions.
